THE COWORKING SCHOOL

Great to see that Peer2peer skillsharing initiatives (like the one in cologne a while ago) are popping up all over the world. This time in Berlin. Have a look at the making of Praktikum Lab that took place during the Social Media Week in Berlin.

Here is what they say about the Praktikum Lab on their website:

Together with Jovoto, Startnext, and Social Media week Berlin we’re hosting a series of micro-classes. Walk in and become part of the installation as a teacher, a student, or both!

We want you to teach something! Think of something you know that could be valuable to someone else. It should be something specific that you can share in 15-30 minutes, something that you can teach using things that you have with you, and something that people can practice on the spot. Think – how to tie a neck tie, a bird call, a negotiation technique, or how to cache a map on your mobile phone…

We want you to learn something! You can learn things like: how to take Polaroids using Impossible Project film, an ancient Japanese technique to release an arm grip, how to spread a complex idea, and how to be happy all the time…

Here’s what’s on so far… Can you teach a micro-class? Pop in or tweet us @praktikumlab

Joe Pine, known from The Experience Economy, is the lead author of Infinite Possibility.

In this short video he shares his point of view on the convergence of the digital and real worlds and what businesses can do to leverage opportunities found in the Multiverse.

For those of you who want to dive deeper into Joe Pine´s multiverse framework  can do so by watching this video and by watching some of his longer presentations here.

So what does all of this mean for progressing the experience of coworkers? What does this mean for innovating business models of freelancers and coworkings spaces? Tough questions! And it will surely take some time to find answers. The Coworking Conference in Berlin from 03 to 05 of november will surely be a good place to start discussing those questions with thought leaders from the coworking multiverse. One of them will be Ronald van den Hoff, the founder of  seats2meet  and mindz.com who is hosting a masterclass with Joseph Pine in Utrecht on the 30th of september in Utrecht. If you want to dig into his ideas about the future of work and society 3.0 have a look at this interview with him coined “Social Ecosystem”.

Trade School celebrates practical wisdom, mutual respect, and the social nature of exchange.

“So, from February 25th to March 1st, 2010, we ran Trade School at GrandOpening in the Lower East Side. Over the course of 35 days, more than 800 people participated in 76 single session classes. Classes ran for 1, 2, or 3 hours and ranged from scrabble strategy to composting, from grant writing to ghost hunting. In exchange for instruction, teachers received everything from running shoes to mixed CDs, from letters to a stranger to cheddar cheese. We ran out of time slots for teachers to teach and classes filled up so quickly that we had to turn people away. This made us think, “we should keep doing this!”
