The global coworking survey is examining the development of working conditions of coworkers and their coworking spaces. It’s the second edition of this survey. More than 1,100 people took part in this survey last year from all over the world. The results will be published for free on deskmag.com in order to support coworkers and their spaces to create and improve a collaborative work atmosphere everybody likes to work in.

On October 23, 2011 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM (time zone: New York) Alex will offer a half-day workshop to share his coworking knowledge to give people interested in coworking the confidence in launching and running a healthy, happy, and sustainable coworking space and community.

If you can´t join him in his online-workshop you will have the chance to see him in person at the European Coworking Conference 2011 in Berlin. He will give there on the 3rd of november a keynote “Taking coworking the next level: it’s all about community!”

The core topics of his workshop are divided into four primary segments:

1.     How to Market a Coworking Space
2.     An Intro to Community Dynamics
3.     Business Foundations for Coworking
4.     Operating a Coworking Space for the Long Haul

plus at least 30 minutes for an action packed Q&A.

The entire course will be recorded and shared in the week following the course. All ticket holders will receive a copy of the audio and video, a full text transcription of the audio, a full transcript of the chat room, AND printable PDF versions of the slides. There’s also a private discussion group ONLY for alumni of this workshop for ongoing networking, discussions, questions, early access to future events, etc.

And you’ll receive a welcome package with attendance instructions in the week before the course.

We want you to teach something! Think of something you know that could be valuable to someone else. It should be something specific that you can share in 15-30 minutes, something that you can teach using things that you have with you, and something that people can practice on the spot. Think – how to tie a neck tie, a bird call, a negotiation technique, or how to cache a map on your mobile phone…

We want you to learn something! You can learn things like: how to take Polaroids using Impossible Project film, an ancient Japanese technique to release an arm grip, how to spread a complex idea, and how to be happy all the time…

So what does all of this mean for progressing the experience of coworkers? What does this mean for innovating business models of freelancers and coworkings spaces? Tough questions! And it will surely take some time to find answers. The Coworking Conference in Berlin from 03 to 05 of november will surely be a good place to start discussing those questions with thought leaders from the coworking multiverse. One of them will be Ronald van den Hoff, the founder of  seats2meet  and mindz.com who is hosting a masterclass with Joseph Pine in Utrecht on the 30th of september in Utrecht. If you want to dig into his ideas about the future of work and society 3.0 have a look at this interview with him coined “Social Ecosystem”.

“So, from February 25th to March 1st, 2010, we ran Trade School at GrandOpening in the Lower East Side. Over the course of 35 days, more than 800 people participated in 76 single session classes. Classes ran for 1, 2, or 3 hours and ranged from scrabble strategy to composting, from grant writing to ghost hunting. In exchange for instruction, teachers received everything from running shoes to mixed CDs, from letters to a stranger to cheddar cheese. We ran out of time slots for teachers to teach and classes filled up so quickly that we had to turn people away. This made us think, “we should keep doing this!”
